The Moose is Loose!
52 days until the big show called IMLP (Ironman Lake Placid). As mentioned, rough week last week! My feet are firmly under me again! It feels like I just went through and Ironman event!!
The Moose is Loose! This weekend I get to “toe the line” with my only local Half Ironman of the season. It’s called Mooseman and its located in Bristol, NH about a 2 hour ride from my home base. The race course has some rollers and the lake swim is known to be really cold. Some say, face freezing cold.
Coach Jesse has collected tons of data on his racers over the years on this event. Apparently, based on how you do at Mooseman, it’s a great indicator on how you will perform at IMLP. Qt2 will have the biggest showing at any event here this year. Lot’s of competition.
I’m boldly throwing this out there! My race goal is 4:40 or better. I’m going to beat that this weekend and show that I am on track to complete IMLP at 10:20 or better. 4:35 is top male in my AG and mine for the taking.
Here is my race strategy:
Swim: :32-:34 -- Go out hard for 400 yards and then settle in
Bike: 2:33-2:36 -- Average of 210 watts. Dial into this number on the flats. Never go beyond 260 watts, even on the steepest climbs!! We want you to run very well. Keep cadance of 88-92 when possible. Keep power up on the downhills!
Run: 1:27-1:29 -- Go out at 6:55 pace and hold that as long as possible. No faster this time!!!
~4:35-4:40 outcome.
